In this guide, we will walk through how to update Android. If you own an Android device, you will want keep your device up-to-date. In the screenshots I show, I’m using Android 9. The instructions should be relatively similar from version to version.
First, we will need to open the Settings app. One method we can access the Settings app is by opening the app drawer. Ensure you’re on your home screen (the screen with all the apps).
If you see a small arrow facing up near the bottom of the screen, swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
In the app drawer, scroll until you find the Settings app. When you find it, tap it.
Navigate to the bottom of the Settings app and look for System. On a phone, you should be able to directly scroll, otherwise on a tablet, you can use the side at on the left.
Once you see System, tap it.
At the bottom, you should see the System Updates tab at the bottom. Tap the button. If your device is up-to-date, you should see something like the following:
If there is an update available, your device should prompt you on this screen.
